Women's Studies in Asia: Knowledge Exchange, Theory and Practice (1997-2000)
Understanding Each Other & Making Connections (1997-1998)
Two international workshops were held in Seoul to bring together Women's Studies scholars from leading Women's Studies' institutions from eight Asian countries to address relevant issues in general and with reference to each country.
- Curriculum Development First Workshop (March 1998):
Knowledge exchange about Women's Studies and understanding about women's issues in every country
- Curriculum Development Second Workshop (September 1998):
Constructing/Reconstructing conceptual frameworks for Asian women subject and curriculum development
Building/Reformulating the Women's Studies Curriculum in the Local Contexts (1998-1999)
The eight country-level workshops were intended to bring together local Women's Studies practitioners to further discuss what Women's Studies courses should entail in each country.
Creating Asian Women's Studies (1999-2000)
Three major thematic issues¤Ñfamily, labor and sexuality¤Ñas well as additional country-specific themes were selected for course development and the publication of teaching materials. The emphasis has been on developing conceptual frameworks relevant to Women's Studies teaching in each country. This project culminated in an international conference, "Women's Studies in Asia 2000," at Ewha Womans University, Seoul in October 2000.
